From first enquiry to published story.
Every participant knows exactly what will happen, where the story may appear and by when decisions must be made. Nothing is filmed before that is clear.
Interviews are filmed for publication.
Voices of a Lifetime is a filmed storytelling project. Every interview is recorded on video, and the recording is made in order to be published. That is explained at the very start, so no one is surprised later.
Participants may decline any question during the interview, and privacy preferences are discussed in advance and honoured in the edit.
Interviews are filmed in a location agreed in advance, chosen for comfort and quiet.
Eight steps.
-
Express interest
The participant or a family member completes the Share Your Story form.
-
Initial conversation
Voices of a Lifetime contacts the person within five business days to learn more and answer questions.
-
Story planning
The participant discusses the subjects they may want to cover, privacy preferences and interview arrangements.
-
Consent
Before recording, the participant reviews and signs the Interview Consent and Media Release Form.
-
Interview
The interview is filmed in a suitable agreed-upon location.
-
Editing
The recording may be edited for length, clarity, sound, pacing and presentation without intentionally changing the participant's meaning.
-
Final review deadline
The participant is informed of the deadline for raising factual concerns or withdrawing consent before publication.
-
Publication
After the stated deadline passes, the story may be published on the website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other present or future platforms.
Two points we make plainly.
Video is part of the project, not an option
Interviews are recorded on video and are intended for publication. Voices of a Lifetime does not offer audio-only or written-only participation.
The withdrawal deadline is final
Participants receive a clear deadline for withdrawing consent before publication. Once that deadline has passed and the interview has been published, publication is final and consent can no longer be withdrawn.
