    Informed Consent

    Every participant will receive a clear explanation of the interview's purpose, recording process, intended audience and planned distribution before recording begins.

    Voluntary Participation

    Participation is voluntary. No person will be pressured, misled or made to feel obligated to participate. Participants may decline to answer any question.

    Distribution Disclosure

    Participants will be informed that their interview may be published on the Voices of a Lifetime website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other present or future platforms.

    Full interviews, edited excerpts, short videos, quotations, thumbnails and promotional materials may be created from the recording.

    Honest Representation

    Interviews may be edited for length, clarity, sound, pacing and presentation. Editing will not intentionally distort the participant's words, beliefs, experiences or meaning.

    Dignity and Respect

    Every participant will be treated with patience, dignity and respect before, during and after the interview.

    Sensitive or traumatic experiences will be handled with care. They will not be used in a misleading, sensational or humiliating way simply to attract attention or increase views.

    Privacy Protection

    Participants may request that certain names, locations, family information or sensitive details remain private.

    Recording locations will be arranged to avoid including people who are not participating in the interview.

    Sensitive Stories

    Extra care will be taken with stories involving health, abuse, trauma, crime, family conflict, financial information or other private matters.

    Participants will be reminded that publishing such information may affect them and other people mentioned in the story.

    Withdrawal Deadline and Final Publication

    Participants will be given a clear deadline for withdrawing consent before publication.

    Once that deadline has passed and the interview has been published, publication is final.

    Consent can no longer be withdrawn after publication, and requests to remove the published interview will not be accepted.

    Footage Protection

    Raw recordings, contact information and signed forms will be stored with reasonable security measures.

    Access will be limited to people directly involved in producing or administering the project.

    Accountability

    Participants may contact Voices of a Lifetime before the stated publication deadline with questions, concerns or factual corrections.
